Perovskia atriplicifolia, or more commonly known as Russian Sage, is native to the rugged and demanding terrain of the Himalayas, western China, and much of southern Russia. Although not a member of the Salvia family, Russian Sage is closely related to it and often mistakenly referred to as “salvia.” The genus Perovskia pays homage to 19th century Russian Imperial General Vasily Alekseevich Perovski. Perovskia atriplicifolia was named the 1995 Plant of the Year by the Perennial Plant Association.
